Re-engineered Hybrid Muzzle Device For .223/5.56 Platforms

The Strike Industries JCOMP Gen 2 is the re-engineered and updated version of the SI JCOMP.   This device provides impressive reduction to both muzzle rise and flash. The ported design was derived from the Type 89 Japanese assault rifle used by the Japan Self-Defense Forces, the Japan Coast Guard’s Special Security Team units, and the Special Assault Team.

It preserves all the great features and qualities of the original JCOMP, but the muzzle rise compensation has been greatly improved.   Strike also added compatibility with blast mitigators like the Strike Industries Oppressor or the Ferfrans CRD.

Tested Performance and Ultra-Modern Design

The Strike Industries JCOMP Gen 2 offers a 2-chamber design and 6-port side vents that efficiently help in reducing recoil and redirecting gas when firing. This helps in minimizing flash and decreasing rifle signature, especially in low-light situations for more accurate follow-up shots.

The smooth parkerized steel finish will give your rifle a clean, modern look, with performance you can depend on.

Features:

  • Classic Type 89 appearance
  • Two chambers and 6 ports for recoil and muzzle flash reduction
  • The new version 2 J-Comp added 2 new top ports for increased muzzle rise compensation

Solid Piece - Best ive had

I've run several high end muzzle brakes on a variety of different rifles, and this is my favorite, with my second favorite being the VG6 gamma brake.

I havent tested the brake yet, but i am giving it 5 stars because the brake is impeccable.

The finish is darker than the photo. Its a shade or two above matte black, it looks matte. Looks mean.

Design-wise from a functionablity stand point it takes from the Japanese type 89 brake. The first two chambers are standard 5.56 chambers with 4 vertical/oval shaped vents. This thing has to be loud from that alone.

The first chanber has two small circular holes on the top (if timed correctly). Thusly this is hybrid brake/compensator, with those two holes minimizing muzzle rise, with the brake vents reducing felt recoil.

Arguably the most interesting aspect is the third chamber (yes, this is long brake. Its almost 3 inches long.).

The third chamber first of all isnt as small as the first two chambers. This third chamber, i internally, follows almost a cone shape, and flares out to about 5/7ths of an inch in diameter at the muzzle end. Unlike other brakes where the end of the muzzle has the same diameter hole as the initial chambers (just a tad above the size of a 5.56 round), this brake is essentially wide open at the muzzle.

The third chamber also has different vents. Rather than vertical, these vents are horizontal about an 5/7ths of an inch long, and oval/rounded in shape.

From a design standpoint, this brake is going to maximally reduce felt recoil and muzzle brake. Acoustically, this will be substantially louder than a bird cage, as expected, but the overall timbre/sound may be a bit different than most brakes, due to the open ended muzzle, and the third chamber horizontal vents.

Beyond all of that, the aesthetics of the brake design are nice and not too flashy. The vents have raised reliefs on the exterior, and the top and bottom have three evenly spaced grooves, with four raises blocks evenly spaced between the grooves and they line up with the raised reliefs on the vents.

As stated in the title, this brake is a very solid piece and my favorite thusfar. Only thing that it needs is to be tested out asap!

Spikes muzzle brake

So far very pleased with the device, I added one to a 20” and 16” barrel, I do feel concusion the 16” but I like them enough that I ordered one for my 20” 6.5 Grendel.
